LIGHTING CEREMONY

This year everything starts on Tuesday December 3rd, 2019!
The city’s institutionalized Lighting Ceremony will take place on the evening of December 3rd at Volos’s beach, with invited artists Despina Vandi and Christos Mastoras. The contemporary artistic production of the city is represented by the Volos Municipal Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the choirs of the educational institution and its associates. Festive choreographies by local artists accompany the Orchestra and the artists, while spectacular fireworks illuminate the sky as soon as the Mayor presses the button in order to showcase the festive lighting, the magnificent aerial sled in the area of the Town Hall, the tallest Christmas tree in the country, the masts of the yachts of the port and the mythical Argo that dominates the coastal front of Volos!

From December 3rd, 2019 until January 7th, 2020 the Municipality of Volos invites you on a different Christmas journey through time and gives you the unique opportunity to get to know the exciting world of Dinosaurs.
Following huge success in Greece and Cyprus, this fascinating exhibition travels to Volos and is a unique opportunity for an adventurous exploration of the prehistoric dinosaur world.

A magical Christmas world for kids and adults with toys, colors, music, treats and … lots of star dust. An ice rink promises to steal the show by impressing young and old who will show off their pirouettes on the ice!

THE LIGHTNING NIGHT

On the second day of Christmas, Thursday December 26 2019, for a 6th consecutive year the most magical event of the year will take place, the night of lanterns on the beach of Volos, with the presence of popular artists, Zozefin and Ilias Kampakakis.

The magical evening is organized with the aim of supporting charitable institutions of the area and 7,000 lanterns are available for the citizens, who offer the amount of money they wish to receive their lantern.

The 7,000 lanterns are released lit into the sky at the same time creating a stunning aesthetic effect, while simultaneously “One Light – A Wish” travels by the locals and visitors of the city conveying their personal desires to the festive sky.

VOLOS: THE FESTIVAL CITY WITH THE BLUE SKY

Kilometers of lighting are installed on the city’s main shopping streets so as the magical effect of Blue Sky to be created. Dimitriados Street, Iasonos Street, Eirinis Avenue, vertical and parallel to the main beach roads are covered by blue lights and a unique festive climate is created.
